Have used Tom Tom sat nav for years. Tom Tom have not advised me found it out like thousands of customers on forums. Tom Tom say my sat nav is obsolete and I can not down loads updates no more.
I won't buy a Tom Tom again feel cheated.
I want to buy a New Sat Nav I only need uk maps and traffic updates. The above seems suitable. I have a 22 foot Motorhome. Can you please give me some advice on which sat nav to buy.
I have a limited budget any advice appreciated.
------------- It's nice to be important. But its more important to be nice.
If you have a smart phone or tablet might I suggest you buy the Sygic truck sat nav app.
It will do all you ask and more.
I suggest the truck version because it allows you to put in the size of your vehicle.
You can try it for 14 days for free

Does that mean if I buy a sat nav with some sat navs showing 2016 map included
That Garmin and Tom Tom and other sat navs showing 2016 maps. That companies will in effect treat the sat nav as 2 years old already for future free map update.

With older Garmins you can get updates from this site which people update around the world, it does work as I have tried it on and older one I had kicking about and well out of date and didn't come with free updates, it is a bit of a faff but well worth having a go if you are that way inclined.
I've used many sat navs over the years, both bought, free and integrated into the car. I gave up using the built in satnav in my Qashqai after trying the free Google satnav Waze.
It's available for Android and Apple phones. It gives real time traffic updates and will automatically change your route if there is an issue on the current route.
I really can't recommend it enough. It's the best system I've used.
Hi Threepints does the above waze do lane changes advice like Tom Tom did. I've very little knowledge of sat navs bit my son has loaded it on my iPhone 4 and I do like the set up it starting to tick my boxes.
I've noticed it's got voice instruction my iPhone is quiiet low in speaker volume.
can you get a plug in extra speaker device for iPhone 4 does any one know please
I still need to get the wife a sat nav but Ido like the above thank you.

I went over to Waze as well a year ago. I find it far better than TomTom. The maps are absolutely perfect being updated within a few days of any changes, even temporary road closures for road works.
It's free as well.
It works well for traffic and will usually find a way through. However for a big MH it might find a route you can't get through. You can set it to avoid unpaved roads and minimise difficult junctions.
It doesn't tell you which lane like TomTom but I don't find that a problem. I just glance at the screen and can see where I need to go. It does tell you to keep left or keep right in most cases and that is sufficient.
Only downside is you do need a data connection. It downloads all the maps you need for your journey before you set off but if you change destination in the middle of nowhere with no data it might not get the map for you. Resetting to the original destination will bring it back for you though.
Your phone should have some means of increasing the speaker volume. It's probably set for each application and might just need adjusting.
I think all the systems have some limitations and its really a matter of finding the one which irritates you the least.
Personally after reading countless reviews we opted for the avtex tourer one. It has great reviews and comes with garmin technology and lifetime map updates.
