Is it possible to hire an awning from a site before you buy one.? I remember my mum and dad hiring tents to go on holiday with when I was a kid so just wondering if anything similar has evolved for awnings. I’d like to try an awning before we spend Sloan’s of money on one.

There are places but supply/demand is limited.

So many different sizes to keep in stock, the only ones ive seen were quite expensive. You could buy an awning for similar money.

You could buy one and resell it and save a lot of money.

With the lightweight awnings being much cheaper than the metal framed full sized ones it maybe an option.

I keep thinking to sell my full sized awning, only use lightweight ones now.

I have hired a tent before, back in the early 1970s, but I've never heard of anyone hiring awnings. Quite probably there are though.

However, there are often lots of second hand ones for sale on ebay. Often very cheap. I have bought 2 this way, with the latest being a good quality full awning for my current caravan. I bought this from a caravan breaker who advertised it on ebay, and it cost me £85. There is a picture of it on my profile/gallery.

Never heard or seen advertising regarding hiring out awnings.

I would think it would work out cheaper to buy an awning off ebay (or similar) than it would to hire one. We had never had one with our first two caravans years ago and wanted to try one out. I must admit I didn't even think of hiring one, the thought just hadn't crossed my mind that you might be able to, so I just looked for one to buy on ebay. I found a lovely Trio Midi porch awning, which is very strong and well made, and I managed to get it for £35. (They are over £500 new) I doubt whether you could hire one for a week for £35, if you can hire them at all. I was quite disappointed when I bought our latest caravan to find that it didn't fit without going half way across a window, so I bought another Trio full awning for £85 off ebay.

Obviously you need to take care with sites like ebay, but there are a lot of decent genuine sellers on there. The last awning I bought came from a caravan breaker who had taken it in with a scrap caravan. They had advertised it on ebay. I paid cash for it and collected it in person, even though it was a long drive. They seemed very genuine people, great to deal with, and I would have no hesitation in recommending them. It's a lovely awning too!

As well as Ebay there is also Gumtree and Preloved which are usually more local and no bidding (though I guess you could barter if you feel like it).

You dont mention your location or awning size?

I have one that's like new. But i keep forgetting to sell it. Its the one in my gallery picture.

Others on here may have something also.

Sitting there unused but cannot be bothered to list it.
