Two weeks ago I put trailer in garage everything worked fine got it out last night.got side lights brake lights but no indicators.left indicator bleeps but light does not flash right had side nothing at all can anyone help thanx
Before you buy anything else look up on the web the cost of a whole new board as they're pretty cheap - about twenty quid - but before that find someone with a trailer or a caravan so you can check the car electrics first.
Both the plugs maybe new but the electric towing socket on the vehicle may have some surface corrosion so give the socket a spray with WD40 and see if that helps. Sometimes when you give the plug a wiggle it can open up the contacts so just check that you have tight connections and if not just pinch them up with some long nose pliers.
I bought a tester on amazon the other day, you can plug it into the car end to see if all the lights come on, if so, all good on the car side. On the trailer side you do the same but its powered by a 9v battery. I plugged mine in and it said right hand indicator was not working, changed the bulb and now all good. Only cost about £10 great tool for those of us who keep trailers quite a distance for the car.
Buy a cheap multimeter from high street discount store, watch a youtube vid on how to use it, quick google to find wiring diagram and check the socket on the tow car.
I made myself a tester. I put a 7 pin plug on a lead and attached each wire to a nail in a block of wood. It was then easy to use a multimeter to check each pair to see what the voltages were.
I reverse of that with a socket connected to 7 nails made it easy to use a pair of jump leads to put 12v across any two wires.
In both cases I marked the wood block with a felt tip pen so I knew what each nail was connected to, e.g. left indicator, brake light, etc
------------- We camped for years. In 2019 we bought an Elddis Avante 454. We like it as it is short (6.9m) and fits in our driveway and has a fixed bed.
We had 127 nights away in the caravan in 2023.
