I'm going camping in September to St Ives, Cornwall with my partner and 6 month old son so recently purchased a tent ( berghaus air 8 tent) berhaus air 8
I'm looking for recommendations on what to put on the floor of the tent I've thought of a few options but not sure which one would be best?
Tent carpet for the main area but in sleeping pods we put that thin silver bubble wrap type insulation under the air beds and gym foam by the beds keeps the floor comfy and definitely helps limit cold coming up through the ground
Vango used to do universal carpets of different sizes and I have one in my living area which isn't totally wall to wall but covers the majority of the floor.
In the bedroom pod I use two large picnic rugs which are PVC backed and pretty much the same stuff that tent carpets are made from.
If you want more insulation underneath an airbed you could use foam mats or even cardboard but you certainly need carpets on the floors...nothing worse than getting out of a warm sleeping bag and putting bare feet on a freezing cold groundsheet.
Tent carpet for the living area, Outwell Inlayzzz for the bedrooms. I did use the foam tiles which are brilliant but they do take up a lot of room when you need 24+ of them. They also do take several minutes to lay, then of course taking apart and putting the edging strips back on at the end of the camp. You can get bags for them though, must have a look around
For our Vango Iris 500, we purchased the accompanying carpet for the living area and then sourced a carpet for a tent whose living area was the same size as the bedroom area of the Iris. It took some searching online, but here's a list of all the Outwell ones, which might help - https://www.outwell.com/en-gb/outwell-academy/tips-and-skills-how-to-guides-from-outwell/buying-guide/carpet-and-footprint-buying-guide. I think we ended up with one for a Montana and the fit is nearly perfect.
