yes I know in all things you get what you pay for BUT are their any 3 season bargains out there? We camped in the Lake District end of August last year and it was a tad chilly so don't fancy it again this year.
BTW this isnt my first post on here, probably the first for 3 years BUT I couldn't remember my log in and I've probably changed internet provider 2 since i first joined, sorry.
We got ours on eBay and also got cotton liners, the liners work great when it's warm and the bags are really thick, not had chance to test them below about 20 degrees yet though 😎😎 bags were £20 odd quid and the liners were £8
Try British or Dutch army Arctic bags on eBay or varusteleka. You may get them for 30 quid.
We use them for are camping and they are comfy, cheap and warm.

There is an old expression, 'Cotton Kills'. Cotton liners will no doubt be great in summer because they are cool but in winter the best liners are polyester, or even nylon. Cotton is a very cold material.
I use a nylon 4 season anglers sleeping bag bought from a fishing tackle shop online and on occasions it is too warm. I can't remember what I paid but it was about £30. The downside with nylon is that when you first get in it feels blooming cold against your skin but literally within seconds the heat from your body transfers to the nylon and it becomes toasty warm. The filling is polyester.
The whole idea of a sleeping bag is to retain your body heat within the 'loft' (the filling) and this is what keeps you warm. The longer you are in it the warmer it becomes and the less clothing you wear the quicker the body heat can build up within the sleeping bag. Some people make the mistake of wearing thick clothing inside their sleeping bags and all this does is make them sweat and feel damp, cold and sticky while the sleeping bag does not working effectively.
Try Mountain Warehouse microlight 1400. We picked them up for £35 and with our Silk liners we were too hot in the Cairngorms in February. The temperature was -7deg C
Cheers
