Only answer that I have found is two bottles.
One CampingGaz and one Calor. Use the Calor in the UK and switch to the CampingGaz when it runs out. Vice versa on the continent.
Obviously replace the empty cylinder asap.

Me too in our caravan, Campingaz in way more expensive gas per litre than Calor but I only use is as a back-up, the smaller bottle also means less weight in the locker than 2 x 6Kgs of Calor.

Thanks folks. Space is at a premium in the car when camping so carrying 2 full size cylinders is out. I'm happy(ish) to pay the Campingaz premium over Calor for the smaller cylinder size. A 901 cylinder is a definite possibility, must see if I can pick one up cheaply (at the dump/Ebay).
I'm tending toward the backpacking stove as it gives a bit of redundancy and we could probably use it when out walking or even for a brew up on the road.
We use the Cadac 2 can EN417 regulator and carry spare canisters. It'll run happily off a single one if you get stuck and saves space not having to lug a big bottle around. You can also run it off those super-cheap weed burner cartridges from Aldi which are even easier to pack, but take care not to let the assembly topple over.
We usually pack the trangia as well as the main burner.

Thank you all, there is obviously a variety of strategies. I'm going to go for a miniature hikers stove, mainly because I love a gadget. I will also keep an eye out for a 901 cylinder.
