Tried I think everything air beds that go down self inflating mattresses that if you don't lay flat on one part of your body will touch the floor, and camp beds any recommendations ??
Campbed with a sim on top, Helen in place with a fitted bed sheet holding the sim in lace then sleeping bag.
I sleep better when we are away camping than I do at home!!!

Who is Helen, and does she always use lace bed sheets?
I think I'd like to meet her.

We got our two ThermaRest Dream Time XL's back in 2008, and they definitely do what it say's on the tin!
We fasten the DT's together to make a double, and to improve the experience I have been searching for a double campbed on which to place the aforementioned DT's but no one is manufacturing a campbed large enough.
In fact I may have to get a couple of single campbed's and fasten them together, but I am not sure if that would be the ideal solution.
We have two quechua airbeds with sims...fantastic! They're not like ordinary airbeds as the air part is a frame with spung slats, and corner elastic to hold the sim in place.10 year guarantee as well.
Previous to this we had campbeds with 10cmsims, great for storage and keeping you off the cold ground. No chance of deflating during the night either.
Seriously, the quechuas beat everything hands down. They link to form a double, are inflated to 6 psi. No sagging. No roll together, They have sprung slats like your bed at home and you can store stuff underneath. Best of all they take up as much room as a folding camp chair or single sim.
I can't recommend them enough.

I think when you ask what to sleep on the answers will include everything there is on the market because everyone's idea of comfort is different.
I started off with airbeds but got fed up with them deflating so changed to SIM's. I didn't find the ones I could afford very comfortable so changed to a camp bed with a SIM on top and that combination served me well for quite awhile. Eventually though, I decided I wanted more width to my bed as I roll around a lot so I have gone full circle and back to an airbed.
The airbed I bought was a Tesco double height with integral pump which inflates, and deflates it in less than 3 minutes. I have used it a few times now and have not had any deflation problems. Following advice I recently read on these forums I now deflate the airbed slightly during the day to account for the rise in temperature, and inflate it before going to bed. Because there is an integral pump, deflating and inflating slightly literally takes a few seconds...far better than my old airbeds where I had to unscrew a valve, stick the pump in the hole then withdraw the pump and screw the cap back on etc.
So, having gone full circle I would now advise double height airbeds with integral pumps and they don't have to be ultra expensive. You can place blankets or memory foam mats on top to make them more comfortable if you wish.
