Very good, we have the smaller Safari chef, just two of us, even better with a good view.

Use it all the time, we have the larger one and cook lots on it. It's hardly been put away this year, standing out in the garden with a cover on ready to use, instant heat, so great for after work.
Obviously not the same as charcoal, but loads easier and quicker.

got the grillo-gas, mid size, great for 2 of us.
Not a true BBQ, but cooks well as an outdoor griddle, paella pan can be used for breakfasts, stir fries, chilli etc
very versatile

Thanks guys, and great picture aswell! A friend of mine has one and has only said good things about them with regards to instant/even heat and easy cleaning which is always a plus when it’s comes to caravaning. 👍

We bought the Safari deluxe model about eight years ago.

Used it a lot for four years, then progressively less, and this year ... not at all ... it is now at home as a back up for home BBQ's.

Many models come with a whole range of different plates/pans to cover potential cooking requirements. We found the paella pan to be the most useful all-rounder.

Washing up/cleaning/gas/assembly and dis-assembly all contributed to our diminished enthusiasm for it.

Now we use an electric griddle plate, which does pretty well everything ... is a doddle to clean, and is set up or packed away in 30 seconds ... we have a power point on the outside of the caravan, so it is used outside, not inside ... the gas rings inside act as a back-up.

Even with a tent (using ehu, of course) I would recommend it ...

Gas for the Cadac, you have to pay for .... if you are using ehu on your pitch, then the electric is free ... unless you camp in Germany where many sites charge by metred usage.

We had one but sold it in favour of a Weber q1200 bbq. We much prefer this style of product as we tend to cook meat. For curry etc we use an electric frying pan.

Us too, love it, we do manage cooking for 4 on it if there isn't too much choice of food going on!

But watch for deals inc accessories if you are buying anything Cadac.

I bought a Cadac Carri Chef four years ago. Having always been a charcoal (proper BBQ) fan I was very reluctant but we discovered more and more sites in France banning traditional bbqs that a change was forced upon us in essence. We tried an electric teppanyaki type grill but performance relied very much on the electric supply - but yes easy to clean.
We now use the Cadac virtually every day when in France and seldom cook in the van. I would say if you do buy Cadac don't bother with the 'scuttle' go for the chefpan/paella pan instead - more versatile and also non stick. We bought our from https://gasproducts.co.uk/outdoor-living/cadac-gas-barbecues-accessories.html which we found was the cheapest deal at the time, however they do seem to have gone up somewhat in the last few years. They have some deals on at the moment.

We also have the Cadac Grill-o-gas. It is excellent.

We got it last Christmas and have used it lots both whilst camping and also at home.

I have to say though that there was a problem with the first one we got...two bits "stuck" together and wouldn't disassemble. Apparently it is quite common. Customer Service from Cadac UK was excellent and a new piece sent to us within no time. Thumbs up for usability, performance and customer service.

We have had a Cadac Carri Chef for years now and love it. The griddle pan has needed to be replaced every couple of years and are not only quite expensive but now obsolete. A mate suggested cutting a disk from a heavy duty non-stick oven liner and useing the smooth side instead, it works a treat, it's a cheap fix and easy to clean too.

Dave.
