Hi all

Have been drooling over all those camping goodies in the latest Lidls flyer and noticed the Energy Station for £14.99. Has anyone had one of these before, or similiar elsewhere?

We were wondering if this could be a substitute for electric hook up? How long to they tend to stay charged and how quickly/easily rechraged from car?

We are looking at EHU but dont have anything needing it as yet - would be mainly for cooling/heating - I prefer my camping DVD/playstation/telly free

Hi, we have a similar thing but find they don't hold much power as the battery inside is quite small so is only suitable for a weekend. we are about to invest in a 110ah leisure battery as it would hold much more power and can be bought for £40.

Many campsites will charge these up for you overnight for a small charge (about £2.40)

fridges and colour t.v's use the most power so try and avoid if possible and use flourescent lamps instead of normal bulbs.

hope this helps. If anyone uses a leisure battery at the moment I would be grateful for any feedback.

 I have had a Lidl`s power station for several years, as my last two cars never had cig sockets.  I found it a very useful little device it will give you one amp for seven hours. So it useful for low power consumption item, ie  mobile phone charging  rechargeable batteries,  blowing up airbeds ,  an my car tyres.  Also I ran a strip light in tent for a weekend with it. It is small and not to heavy , so is easy to carry in boot an put where you need power. Horses for courses, need lot power then a leisure battery,  need a light compact device then a Lidl`s special

Mmm thanks, Not sure it wil be up to what DH is after. He wants to be able to get a fridge - me, I prefer the frozen 2 litre bottle trick myself! alot cheaper and easier to buy lol!

Totally agree with you there - my 2-way fridge in my van is great as long as I'm on hook-up, but on gas - gets through a bottle in no time, a real gas guzzler!

I have woolies one bought about 6 months ago. The great thing about my one is it has a 100W headlight attached - but it drains the battery in 35 minutes. It also has a small lantern.

I also have an EHU. The purpose of having both is so that if I am going to a site that does not offer EHU, I can still run a light over the weekend or charge my phone, or play my radio. I would not try to do a lot with it though.

In general I use the headlight in my garage to find things. I dont think I will be overrelying on it.
