We have recently purchased a deluxe airbed, deluxe in the fact that it's extra long and approximate 18" deep. Problem is, trying to keep us warm. Would an insulated mat on top of the bed work? So much cold air underneath us.

I am assuming you use it in a tent so firstly you would benefit from a tent carpet or picnic rugs on the bedroom pod floor. Helps to keep the airbed insulated and also warm underfoot when you get up.

Extra insulation from the ground can be had by using corrugated cardboard sheets under the bed or foam camping mats.

On top, I use a couple of fleece blankets but I also have a very warm sleeping bag on top of those. An old sleeping bag or duvet on top of the airbed can also help it really depends how much bedding you want to take with you. The more insulated you can make the airbed the better...nothing worse than a cold night's sleep.

One further tip...don't sleep with your head inside the sleeping bag or under a duvet because you will be breathing damp air into it...better to wear a woollen hat if your head gets cold.

Hi we use picnic rugs under the air beds and a blanket on top to lie on.
