If your tent gets wrecked, can you afford to go straight out and replace it... assuming you'd want to, of course. Can you live without it, until such time as you can afford to replace it?
If you can't, then look into insuring it. And make sure you get the cover you want.
It appears that your bog standard insurance may only cover your tent for events that occur "whilst you are in attendance". It may not cover camping equipment, beyond the tent itself. It may only cover you for camping in the UK only. It may not cover you for storm damage.
If some or all of that doesn't suit, then look into something a little more suitable... which in turn will almost certainly come at a higher premium.
We pay a few pennies over £100pa, for ours. It appears to give us all the cover we want, although I hasten to add, we haven't made a claim on it as yet.
We had our tent covered under our house insurance, but it only really covered the tent while in the house. So if the house burnt down, it was covered, but if it blew away while on site its was not covered.
We've never bothered. We've never had tents or other gear that was particularly expensive though. If it all got wiped out in one hit it'd be a bit of a blow.
With premiums at just over £100pa, I figured I'd be happy to pay that for each of the first 10 years. That would be over £1k, or getting on for 30% of the initial purchase price.
Our tent does have a "life expectancy of 20+ years though, to be fair.
I may well reduce that insurance layout though, maybe pay it for 7 or 8 years, then take another look at the situation.
As I'm covered for "market value", there's gonna come a time when the insurance premiums may be seen as "less economical", of course.
It was the amount and type of cover we had which attracted us.
Coming back from a day out to find your tent flattened in the middle of a field didn't appeal to us!
If you can afford to fork out over £1000 for a tent then you can probably afford to insure it. My tent was around £200 and if anything happens to it I will go out and buy another. I have had it for a couple of 3 seasons now so if it was insured I would probably have paid out more than it is worth and I doubt whether the insurance company would buy me a new one
It would have been guaranteed against faults for 12 months anyway so what exactly are you wanting to insure it against? I have never heard of a tent being stolen and thefts on campsites are very rare.

Have you tried putting a beer down or even a chocolate bar or cake - there is even theft in our family tent!!! You snooze you loose
You can usually tell who the culprits are - chocolate round mouth or even cake crumbs.

No, I can't say I have ever put a beer down and chocolate and cake would never leave my sight
I think I have enough tents to cover me until I saved for a replacement. Any thief that managed to nick the Alaska would have to be quick and pretty strong. I don't think I would need insurance for wind damage for it either.
The other tents? I've left tents pitched in the middle of nowhere and gone munro bagging. Nothing nicked. In fact the only theft in over 40 years was an adapter and power bank in France last year. Wife left it charging in the toilets. She isn't as cynical as me.
As for other gear- it would give me a reason to replace it.
