Hi
First off hello! This will be our first year camping as a family.

I've bought a Coleman gladiator stove. Before I bought it in store I had a QUICK Google and read I could by a hose with the fittings either end to convert it to a large propane UK cylinder ..... but im having a a real pain finding the info.

I'm assuming I can cut the the regulator off the included pipe included with the stove and attach an 8mm gas hose and silverline regulator with a good helping of jubilee clips? Obviously they'll be a compatible propane coupling at the other end to fit to the large propane bottle. Picture included of the bit I intend to cut off.

Hope someone can help or my missus will give me so much grief if I have to buy the Coleman 1lb bottles 😣

Sounds like it should be OK. The regulator will need to fit to the gas bottle. Propane and Butane will use different regulators so you must get the correct one.

Thanks for the reply Navver. Yes, I intend getting a regulator which will screw into a 3.6kg propane bottle. I'm assuming I open the regulator fully when I use it? Meaning I won't cause massive back pressure if the reg is fully open?

I have done what you are supposing. It's very easy to do, although there is no going back as you can't take part the regulator. I cut the regulator off and attached a piece of gas hose. On the other end I have an adjustable propane regulator as it offers more control. I have always found the stove difficult to get a low heat previously. I can find some pics if you want. There is a previous thread I created about this if you search for it. It's a great stove otherwise and very well built compared to others of a similar design.

It's quite simple. You'll need a 1millibar regulator, some 8mm gas rated tubing and a couple of jubilee clips and a hacksaw. I'll take a photo tomorrow. If I forget give me a nudge, I've got loads on at the moment and my brain is all over the place!

Hi, I need to do same for my gladiator. I love it, but it makes short work of the cannisters! Please let me know what is required? I have a small propane cylinder.

I am confused re Coleman gladiator, maybe you could help please.
You mention a 1mbar regulator ???
But another post mentions that a 37 mbar reg was not enough to run on???

I have bought a 500 mbar to 4 bar reg (not arrived yet)
This I plan to go directly into my 6kg calor propane cylinder.
From this reg I plan to go into the Coleman reg supplied with the stove via a piggyback pipe.

The idea is that I limit the pressure going from cylinder via big reg to small reg. I can set the big reg to say 1bar
What do you think?
The real question is, what pressure does the small Coleman regulate to??
I can't find that out anywhere.

Any help or photos of your set up would be good

hello folks, new to this page that I found while researching camp stoves, in particular the coleman gladiator fyreknight propane stove. I cant seemed to find them available online... sorry to jump in on this thread but can ye point me in the direction of where to buy? also I paln on fitting it to the red calor 3.9kg bottle but was hoping to try fit a quick release connector like the cadac stoves use... has anyone explored this idea yet?

Hello there Simon
I have a Gladiator stove including the silver pipe bit with one end for the stove and the other to connect to a 1lb gas bottle.
I also managed to acquire a Coleman Propane hose with adaptor 1.5m.
I have been researching this problem for ages I think I can connect the silver pipe bit to the stove and then the Coleman hose connector to the end that the lb bottle would go.
Thing is not sure and would ask you what you think to this.
Also the stove burners are very hot and cannot be turned down so people on Internet have said they remove the knobs and wipe away the heavey grease and spray with silicone replace and this enables the flame to be turned down to burn low.
I would really like to know what you and any other reads thoughts on the subjects. I have thought the best thing to do would be speak to a qualified Gas safe person what do you reckon……..I want to be totally safe not very sorry.
