Our Campingaz Camping Chef has been ultra reliable BUT, time for something new (Mainly because it looks a complete state) and I would probably give it a hygiene rating of 1 :D
What do I like about this cooker:
Reliability - very little to go wrong
All metal design (mostly).
Powerful burners for a dual stove.
What would I want from a replacement:
More powerful burners
A bigger/more powerful grill (If exists on camping stove)
More compact design
I do find the Camping Chef is "cumbersome", surely there is a more elegant solution nowadays which ticks the above boxes?
I have seen the new Camping Chef but the burners are even less powerful.
Maybe 2 x Single burners would be better?
I was looking at the Coleman Unleaded Stove which I know is not in fitting with the spec above but seems a good outside choice.
Many thanks.

Those 2x burner Campchefs are amazing!
30,000 BTU’s of heat boils water in no time - even in strong winds (most stoves are 7,000 to 10,000 BTU’s). I haven’t timed it, but I’d say it’s quicker than a regular electric kettle.
Got mine from Costco.
Downsides:
1) weight (14kg), but won’t blow/knock over easily.
2) levelling screws for legs/piezo ignition switches are optional extras (£20+ postage from amazon.com)

Do they guzzle gas?
Also, does anyone know if you can you get a regulator to use propane stoves with Campingaz R907?
Thanks.

I haven’t gone camping with it yet, so not sure whether the ‘more heat’ but ‘less time’ ratio balances itself out, fuel-wise.
No reason why you couldn’t use a Campingaz R907 with the appropriate regulator. I switched the included propane regulator for a calor gas butane regulator (4.5kg), and it plays nicely with that.

Why don't you clean your existing stove then convert it to run on propane so it runs better on cold mornings.
Empty Calor Gas bottles can be picked up cheaply on Ebay, don't buy the obsolete aluminium ones.
------------- Enjoy the liveliness of the syntax.
