Hello, my name is Malachy and i'm a UK student in year 10 and this research is for my Design Engineering GCSE
NEA work.
I was wondering what people thought about the security of their tents when they leave them unattended to go on walks, cycling outings and other activities where the threat of theft from their tent is present.
I hope to get ideas from campers as in that way I can make my product as tailored to the users and their needs.

The worry of theft is for easily portable and easily sellable items such as electronics which we, like many others, either lock in the car (using car insurance to cover ourselves) or leave at home (using home insurance to cover ourselves).

Best of luck with your project. I'm sure lots of people will help where they can as you are not trying to sell us something and it's part of your GCSE. I'm sure my daughter will be on here asking questions for her DT (that's Design and Technology) projects in the next few years.

I have been a tent camper for many years and don't personally worry about theft from my tent, in my experience on sites it has never been an issue.

We have always taken any valuables with us or locked them in the car boot, which is obviously insured.

Hello Malachy...just in case you are a potential burglar looking for ideas about breaking into tents I wire my zip up to the car battery so if anyone touches it they get blown to kingdom come. If they escape that there is a sawn off shotgun inside with the trigger attached to a trip wire

How about a easy to carry, folding/collapsible, one man for table. Something than is light and very simple but carefully designed so that it is small.
Sides and legs could fold out.
Another idea is walking poles that have lights to help people see where theyre placing the poles

There is no such thing as a secure tent. Just decent neigbors. A locked up car or trailer etc is the best you can have.
