I have a Hymer caravan with a stable type door. This isn't very secure and I'd like to fit a locking bar and handrail over both. However the space between my caravan doorframe and the fridge is about 3 inches.
Does anyone know how wide the hinge fixings are on this handle and the position of the fixing holes?

The handle can be seen here:

Just measured mine. Rectandular plates 80 mm x 35 mm With 2 off 6.6 mm holes at 50 mm centres. You could easily reduce length of plate each end by 10 MM. 1 plate top and bottom. Anymore help please ask

Thanks Ted. I take it that it's upright so the inner fixing plate is 35mm wide? Height is no problem, it's the left hand edge of the inner fixing plate (seen from the inside) which may catch the fridge edge.
Just measured the gap and from the inside rubber seal edge to the fridge and it's 42mm. The outside trim extends from the door but not enough to foul the outer hinge unless the outer hinge casing is a lot wider and hence moving the exterior fixing holes further from the door.
It's tight but ok. My only concern is the proximity of the holes to the door hole edge and hence some weakness there. Think I'm being a bit over cautious.

80 mm width is horizontal ( left to right ) on mine . 15 mm from edge of plate to centre of 1st hole.

Milenco and Thule also make security handles. One of the Milenco range screws into the sidewall of the doorframe. Not sure of your caravan but maybe worth a look . Good hunting.
Terry.

Thanks Terry. Looked and they both do frame fittings so that's they way to go. They're identical to each other (and the Fiamma I think) but Milenco are far cheaper. Anything Thule is expensive.
