From our experience, having the Exped Comfort 10 SIM's, the first thing you start to realise with experience, is that a fully inflated SIM is neither required nor advisable.
The recommendation is to inflate to a point that when the user/sleeper gets on, "on all fours" (literally... 2 x knees + 2 x elbows as the only four contact points!) there is (just) enough inflated mat to avoid contact with the floor. This ensures that whenever rolling around/fidgeting in the night, putting such pressure on elbows etc, the sleeper never feels the floor.
Over-inflate, and it is somewhat uncomfortable. I can vouch for that personally... although I didn't believe such advice at first!
With that in mind, as the SIM is therefore quite "squashy", it is more than safe enough to walk/stand on. I have done it regularly on ours, to fit lights over the bed area, and to tie on our internal dividing curtains (We don't have an in-built bedroom in our tent.)
I have stood on our SIMS both on the floor, and laid on a camp bed, without problems. (I'm a 14 stone adult male).
Of course, it is preferable to be sober... ish! Depending on the amount of inflation, they can prove a little wobbly to stand on!
LOL!
I would guess there is more chance of young 'un wobbling/falling over, than causing any damage to the SIM. At least it's a soft landing! :-)
Having said that, I wouldn't advise encouraging young 'un to use it as an indoor trampoline!
I can only speak for the aforementioned SIM, of course, but I doubt it would be any different for other reputable brands?
