Hardly ever buy anything from Go outdoors anyway, as I find them rather expensive. Their "discount" prices, for which you have to buy a discount card, seem to be only what others are charging without a discount card. Maybe I'm just not looking at the right things.
Yes, without the discount card (£5 per year) their prices are usually high, and yes, with the discount card, prices generally reflect others' standard price.
Of course, should you find an identical item elsewhere, G.O. will not only match that price, but beat it by 10%. They will only do that for Discount card holders, and the item must be identical... make/model/size/colour etc.
It is all a game, and the trick is to play it to your advantage. There is the occasional bargain to be had.
Admittedly, the game is becoming more and more difficult to play, and the bargains become more and more rare, as G.O. constantly increase their "exclusive" stock (Hi Gear etc), which of course is not available elsewhere, so cannot be "Price-matched"!
Even to the point where they change a colour shade, and/or a name, and before you know it, The widely available Vango Icarus 500 becomes the "Exclusive to G.O. Vango Isis" (and numerous other examples), so no "Price match promise" can be had, as no other dealer can sell the "Isis"!

As a person who only ever goes in any shop in order to see if they have whatever it is I am looking for, Go probably wouldn't do very well out of me. If they don't have what I am looking for at a price I am prepared to pay, I just turn round and walk out. I do the same in any shop, whatever they sell. I "don't do shopping". To me it is not a pass-time, or an experience, it is a function. I know what I want and I try to find it, simple as that. I never trust "special offers", "discount prices", or "sales". Too many times I have seen things in a "sale", only to find them cheaper elsewhere not in a sale.
------------- Best Regards,
Colin

I feel the assortment has gone downhill since the takeover. JD Sports seem to want just to promote their own brands.
