I’m in a bit of a bind and have left this quite late. We’re off again next week and it’s gonna be wet. I want to rig a tarp over the tent entrance for some shelter getting in and out. I want it narrow and long and most tarps are much too big. I’ve found an ideal sized one but it’s more ur footprint or garden tarp type material rather than a polyester or cotton camping tarp.
Am I stupid to consider it? Will it work?
It’s going on our Touareg, will attach to the two door poles and follow the contour of the tent down each side. It’ll not protrude too far out in front and have two king poles in front mirroring the door poles.
Many thanks
They don't tend to fold quite as small and will be noisier in wind / rain that a polyester or cotton tarp but otherwise it's just a sheet of material with some eyelets around the edge.
Just check it has eyelets where you need them. You can buy an eyelet kit for little cash from Amazon and the like to add extras
Thanks for the replies. Good to know builders tarp not totally ridiculous. I’m going to have a cotton one made 1.5x5.5m. The garden tarp I found was 1x6 but I have decided against as such short notice and I’d need to get poles and eyelet kit. We’re goin with my folks in their caravan and awning so we’ll just see how we get on, just wanted some shelter for the door way and to leave muddy boots etc. Think forecast improving so we'll hope for the best. Def sort something for future tho.
