Hi folks .... Has anyone painted a galvanised trailer? ... I have recently purchased an Erde 234x4 with high sides. I have a new, larger cover on order in black which will cover the top three quarters (down to the Erde decal), i have since painted the mudguards black to give them a better look but i keep looking at the bottom sections that will still be on show (below the Erde decal) and A-Frame and they are quite badly corroded/pitted .... I am very tempted to paint but have concerns i will regret this ...
Has anyone done this? ... Is it worth it?
Any paint recommendation? (i am looking at Hammerite) Any colour recommendation? (anything that gives a silver/aluminium type finish (not gunmetal grey) would be ideal, if not will probably go with black).

It’s not aluminium, it’s a galvanised finish covering mild steel, it can be painted.
But will need a lot of preparation before hand
pop doen to your local agricultural merchants and purchase some 'cold galv' '' spray paint..Its basically spray paint containing galvanising zinc... Its not super cheap but other than a quick rub down of rusted areas then a wipe over with meths to remove any grease its dead may and gives a great finish. Just done some rusty galvanised bike racks and was pleased with the overall results and better than spraying with Halfords silver spray paint or hammerite.
We used it after de-nibbing new galvanised panels and frames, we also had gallons of the stuff for the bigger jobs
I painted the caravan chassis with some and it still looked like new several years later
