Surprisingly, our grown up kids want to join us on our new caravan adventures and it with reluctance we have decided to trade in the Elddis Supreme 2 berth caravan bought new on April fools day (no comments please!) this year for a four berth. So, not only are we about to take a hit on the van we love we also will have to sell our Isabella Capri 915 awning to replace it with an awning to fit the new van(1025 if anyone has got one going cheap). My question is, the Isabella has been great but to ease the financial pain has anyone got any comments about WALKER awnings in comparison to ISABELLA?

We have a Walker awning which is good fabric and well made.

Have used it for the last 6 years all over France and Spain. Had a problem with a pole when in Spain, phoned Walker in Holland who airmailed a replacement to me for free.

We have a lightweight awning/canopy for overnighting, to savre time.

No experience of an Isabella, but they do seem comparable.

You can get the awnings altered to increase the size, but I don't know if you could go from 915 to 1025. May be worth a call to Isabella.

thanks Woodman2. I made enquiries into this, apparently Isabella can only alter 2 sizes up. Thanks for the suggestion though

You could also try Brian Park, Chattisham near Ipswich.
They also do repairs and alterations

I can second the suggestion to try Brian Park. If the alteration is not a sensible option he will tell you. A lot of it will depend on the size of the triangle between the roof and the sides as this is where the alteration is normally made. If it is already a large triagle then it is unlikely that an alteration of the size you need will work. Brian can explain this a lot better than I can. The telephone number is 01473 652404

Thanks everyone for your help and advice. After talking to the companies you recommended it seems that it is only realistic to increase awning sizes by a maximum of 2 sizes, so, I am selling a 7 month old ISABELLA capri, 915, charcoal, carbon poles, 7 months old, used 5 times. I have just been told by a reputable dealer that they sell new for 1650 pounds. Any offers ???

You may not get as much as a private sale, but many dealers take awnings in part exchange. Have you considered buying second-hand? Many bargains to be had! Also, Ventura awnings are part of the Isabella group - lighter weight and cheaper but still good quality, so may be worth taking a look.

Or buy a tent (or even 2) for the kids!

I like bofs idea of a tent for sleeping for your grown up children. If they manage several holidays with you and are not put off then think of trading up your caravan. They could still drive/travel/eat with you and socialise with you in the evenings if the tent/s are small.

This way you still get to have your 2 birth for another year and can even look round at 4 birth if the children are keen to continue holidaying with you. They may prefer their own tent as they will not get moaned about messiness/tidying up in their own tent.

Point taken but my daughter in law is pregnant and I don't think she'll thank me for putting her in a tent. Making the bed up day and night has proved a bit of an issue as well, wife Mandy says she doesn't mind but I have started to feel guilty watching her. I could say that was a joke but sadly it isn't. Thanks again for all the responses, really appreciated. Will check out Venture awnings as recommended bofs.

Have you considered converting your Isabella into a porch awning for your new caravan https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KAHUyBZguSQ

When our grown up kids join us ... we use a tent for them.

Bought a really good inflatable one, which they love ... and the Decathlon inflatable baes with blow up top ... very comfortable.

Daughter says she much prefers it to the caravan!

Could be cheaper than your change of van ... and ... you are left with the van for 'life' .... how long will your offspring continue to camp with you? Will you end up with a four berth only being used as a two berth?
