At the start of the season I was looking at cadacs with a view to a bit of alfresco cooking but the big versions looked too big and awkward to clean (and dare I say a bit posy) and there is only two of us so I went for the 2cook2 pro double burner with hot plates.

Well what a marvellous piece of kit it is, powerful, compact, a delight to use and a doddle to clean. Build quality is very good and it all fits in a shoulder bag for easy storage in the caravan.

I only post this because it is so unlike me to come across a gem like this. They are not cheap but are worth every penny and to me that's a bargain, we may never use the van cooker again

I can highly recommend them

Hi Ratcatcher I have one like you say ideal especially for two. Easy to clean, stow and setup. Its also flexible to use the gas rings or griddle plates as desired. Mine was a real bargain preowned but as new Ebay bid. It came with the Cadac legs and stand.

Thanks for pic Blueexpo97 I have the previous model the BLUE one it has the same Alloy legs as the round Cadacs it came with the carry bags all like new. It has a tray shelf for utensils and provision for Gas canister within shelf. I don't think they make them anymore but there ideal for camping. Boil the kettle n cook the bacon at same time.

I don't get it. Why spend a fortune on what is essentially a twin burner hob. What is the advantage of this over a basic hob and a frying pan or even a cast iron frying pan? I'm open to be convinced either way.

You can as you say use this as a basic hob it just seems better quality and a bit more powerful than a run of the mill hob and the interchangeable hot plates are cast alloy, light and easy to clean.

Just personal choice but seems better made than most

But then what do I know I always thought that the X factor was a roman sun cream

Really impressed with ours, probably the best camping buy.
Got a pizza stone as well. The first couple burnt on the middle of the base. Solved this by folding a piece of tinfoil into 4-5 layers about 3 inch square, this and a sprinkling of flour on the stone has sorted the problem for perfect pizzas.

We had the Cadac Safari Chef a few years, but got sick of all the bits to get out and pack away, and the gas blowing out, and not being able to control the burner very well 'cos you can't see the flame because of all the bits, or in bright sunlight, and the faff to clean all the bits. Gave up and now just use a cheapo cartridge gas burner and pans on top. All we need. Down here in France see some wonderfully inventive cooking methods...at a distance I might add...safety 1st...
