I am looking to buy a roof box and wondered if anyone could guide me - we are looking at either a Exodus 580l or Thule Atlantis 900 as they are extra large, quick fitting, dual side opening and aren’t too wide so still enough space for 1 bike rack!

They are similar capacities but quite different in dimensions with the Exodus being quite a bit deeper than the Thule and the Thule being quite a bit longer.

We will be packing mainly softer items into the box so am thinking the deeper one would be better for SIM etc

Any info, hints, tips appreciated!

Thanks

Daniel

Hi Daniel,

i would say go for the deeper one The Exodus, I think it will give you more packing options but that is only my opinion the next post might suggest different, At the end of the day it is what fits your needs best and what fits best on your car.

Give some thought to storage when not in use.
I was limited to standing mine on end in my shed, with a head height of 2m, which affected the max. length of the box I could go for. A slightly smaller box than I would have otherwise gone for, but that was easier to deal with than finding storage at home for a longer box.

Hi Daniel,
I’ve got a Kamei Delphin 470, I can fit 2 bike racks next to the box.
The Delphin is only 75cm wide,
Exodus is 80cm,
Atlantis is 70cm.

Borrowed my mates Kamie Husky XXL for our trip to France last year, fantastic capacity far more than my Kamie Dolphin 380 obviously.

Decided to get one myself, but unfortunately Roofbox co no longer list the model, not sure if it’s become a discontinued line, hopefully not, but I believe there is an alternative.

I have the Atlantis ...

Also used for lighter items ....

For me the deciding factor was the length, rather than the height ... the lower profile means more ergonomic air flow, so lower fuel consumption.

What's the Litre capacity of each? If no difference, I'd go for the lower one.
