I wanted to share a cooker with you all.
I am tent camping this year, due to personal circs.
I have most equipment needed for comfortable camping, however, for cooking in the past I have used a couple of items from the caravan, namely a cadac and a quest round electric hot plate, which is good. I also had a couple of those 'suitcase' burners that use the canister or bottles that slot in one side.
They are flawed and rubbish in my opinion for any serious cooking needs. because the temp of the canister drops so low during use, the flames gets smaller as you use it. Because the butane can no longer gas off.
I wanted a cooker that had a decent output, easy to use and reliable.
Most of the cookers you can buy off the shelf at most outlets are 1.5kw for the burner and similar for the grill.
But I thought, do i need a grill? why would you have one, given you may have electric, so a toaster, a cadac or similar grill for other cooking so no need for one to do meat etc? This has no grill.
So I found this model, NGB 60S from NJ or search on fontron.com
This IS an amazing cooker. The instruction book almost guarantees it will light, in fact, you light with a piezo spark a small burner/torch which is directed at the burner ring, this lights the gas, not a usual piezo in the burner flame like most burners.
Each ring has an output of 3.8kw so thats more like it.
I have only used it at home so far to test it and set it up, there is an air adjuster for each burner and each burner has a high and low ring which you can set up. It is not cheap, but have to say if you are looking for a cooker which is reliable and will not disappoint, can heat a huge pan or water or anything you want, would be great for a wok, this is the one to look at. I was very impressed with this cooker and am looking forward to using it in the camp ground. It has a skillet you can put on either ring to use smaller pans.
