Its been a long time since I've been here but I would really appreciate your knowledgeable bunch's advice.

I have agreed to buy a Cadac Braai which comes with a red calor regulator.

I have already got at home a camping gaz 907 bottle and regulator which I use for my LP safari chef, and a blue calor bottle and regulator which are fitted to my caravan.

Is it as simple as switching the red regulator for either of the two I have? And if so, is there a preference for which of the two I go for? Or am I better sticking with the red calor option and sourcing a bottle?

We run a campingaz stove on patio gas so presumably it will work the other way around.   Be aware that one of the formats - cant remember which - isnt available in Europe and one of them doesnt work so well in the cold (not a worry unless you are travelling and camping outdoors in winter)

If not going to Europe, a Calor is most readily available in U.K. and probably cheaper than Gaz. We used to carry a full 6/7 kg Calor for 6 weeks holidays with daily use in Europe but now have a Euro (Casino) cylinder for Euro touring.
But any regulator and any cylinder will fill the bill.
We have a bbq point on the side of the caravan and just need a wee brass connector to plug in.
Enjoy your Cadac. We use ours as a bbq, an oven, a griddle, a pan, a bbq oven, and even cook oven chips on the flat plate.

you can run it on your camping gaz bottle and regulator, the only thing is that it wont be as hot as the red bottles are better for that, i know some will come on here and sat there is no difference but in practise over many many years we have found otherwise, so only use the camping gaz for emergencies

Thanks all, that's really helpful. I think for the moment I'll use the camping gaz but in the future maybe look to get a propane bottle, especially if I can find a cheap one second hand as my part exchange

Good point! I was only thinking of using up the campinggaz and then switching to calor when I can see a bottle for sale close to me
