Would it be possible for some advise on gazebos? I’m going camping soon and want to create a sheltered area just outside our tent. Can anyone recommend a brand which has sides but won’t cost a fortune?

your better off using a tarp as most sites wont allow gazebos due to them causing too much damage if and when they go airbound

If gazebos aren’t allowed what about those tent like covers?

We have a Coleman event shelter. Not cheap but it's solid, properly guyed and pegged it's not going anywhere. (Obviously we'd drop it anyway in the event of really severe weather.)

We have a tarp too for situations where it's more appropriate.

I’d suggest a windbreak and a tarp. Decathlon do good tarps very cheaply, with guys and poles included. Campsites frequently charge extra for a gazebo, and quite a few don’t allow them at all.

Is this for sitting out, or just for cooking?

You beat me to it.

It is worth to learn how to rig a tarp using the Ridge Line Method so that it can be taken down with ease.

I would not recommend leaving a tarp up overnight or unattended for long period of time, unless one can be certain of good dry weather with light winds only, based on personal experience!

I have a decathlon shelter - 3m x 3m. Three zipped sides which open up and a mesh side so you can cook even if it is raining outside. I put fairy lights up, a table and all the camp kitchen boxes. It’s fab for groups. Katy

I've just bought and used a Coleman Fastpitch event shelter. It's fantastic. Very quick and easy to put up. Takes 5mins. The pegs that come with it are very good and it has guy lines too. You can get sides for it but I haven't....yet. Not cheap but worth the money.

Can you not get an extension to your tent? Many do them. Its amazing the space they create.
