Hi All

Im planning on purchasing for my first trip a leisure battery, inverter and a leave and charge charger for the battery.

I just was a bit confused as to what kind of voltage/wattage etc I need as some inverters/batteries/chargers etc are cheap or some are pricey.

this is the battery, what do you think?
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SEALED-CALCIUM-XPLORER-220-AH-MARINE-BATTERY-HUGE-POWER-STORE/112499478562?hash=item1a317dd022:g:Nm0AAOSwDn5Ze1Ht

can you reccomend the right sort of inverter for this battery and the right sort of charger?

Eventually would be wanting to use this to connect a fridge, shower thingy and maybe some other random bits here and there. but would also be nice to charge the battery while im on the road aswell as planning to take car to europe too.

Are you sure about that battery it weighs 42kg! I don't think I could even lift it.

Do you really need an inverter for your set up, the items you mention will all run of 12v, I have an inverter on my battery box, but only because I occasionally use a 500watt kettle, and can’t get to use my MSR Pocket Rocket gas burner.

For running the laptop etc I use a 12v step up unit, which works great and can be set for various output voltage’s and came with around 8 different laptop connectors.

For charging the battery on the move you will need a split charge system or DC to DC battery charger.

Would love a split charge system on the car that I drive, but I am in a firms car currently and they keep changing it every four months, so that rules that out at the moment.

As for the shower, the Kampa Geyser looks to be a good bit of kit, also the Aqua Cube by Companion and the Ridge Ryder Insta shower, although those last two are not available in Europe, great if you are going of grid.

Have you seen the weight of that battery? It will be difficult to lift Into your car.
The size of inverter needed depends on what you would like to run on it. A 12 volt Compressor fridge would be better to use

Hi mate

Just saw that.. How about this one:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12V-SEALED-XPLORER-115-AH-DEEP-CYCLE-LEISURE-BATTERY/122252036104?epid=6034366035&hash=item1c76ca0808:g:WiYAAOSwkRpZprOF

Im planning on running laptop occasionally, portable fridge/freezer perhaps and maybe a kettle here or there.. I'm also going to use it when I do expo event stalls, to run my LED lights.

how about use gas to run the fridge and boil the kettle by, and just get the 12v adapter to plug into your car? as for running a few led lights, well you would only need about a 60ahr battery then

That battery looks a lot better to live with, I recently picked up a 120Ah Leoch Adventurer leisure battery from my local car accessory shop £90.
The Leoch also had the additional 10mm threaded posts, which made it real easy for attaching my 600w PSW inverter.

Just remember not to let the battery run to less than 50% capacity.

To help monitor battery capacity I added the Aili Monitor, to my battery box the monitor was £28 from China and works a treat, or you could use a voltmeter to gauge capacity.

If you are looking for an electric kettle, I can recommend the Bestron AWK810 at just 500watt it takes around 5% out of my battery, and takes 7 mins to get 500mls of cold water to a rolling boil.
