Hi
I have bought a van which came with a Thetford porta potti 465 with a battery powered pump.
Alas when I took it out to give it a thorough clean I discovered that the flush doesn’t work. I have checked the batteries and the connections appear sound. Any clues on either how to fix it, or whether it is possible to remove it to replace with a piston pump.
All help gratefully received.
Thanks
Thanks, Fiona. I have found the manual - I’ve also discovered the exorbitant cost of spares! I’ve just been out for a couple of days and tipped in used washing water as a manual flush.
It probably has an Submersible implela type pump which stick if not used for a period. If you can get to the pump, manually try and turn the impela to free it and then should be good to go.
Thanks, Wanderer. That sounds like a strong possibility - the van had been unused for almost a year when I bought it - hence flat (dead) leisure battery, dodgy fridge (on which more queries may follow 🤣) and the loo problem.
I cannot work out how to remove the flush until from the base to access the submerged bit and try to turn it as you suggest. It evidently must detach, but I have yet to discover how.
