help please. I just upgraded my caravan to discover that I need electrics from a battery to run a fan to run gas heating if off site. Can anyone advise where I can get a convection only heater (like older vans) so I can toast by gas only heating whilst new caravans struggle with battery power . I live in Glasgow Scotland
See you Jimmy. Any gas fire or water heater for that matter needs an external exhaust pipe to vent the dangerous gasses to the open air so this temporary heater will have to be installed by a credited Gas Safe engineer. I think you may struggle, why not sort the battery out? It would be cheaper.

------------- Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day,
Teach a man to fish and you can get rid of him for a whole weekend.
you can use the fire, just you wont have blown air hesting o the fire will still light, it just has to radiate out from it, rather than a fan moving the hot ir thr the tubes to different parts of the caravan, but your still going to need a leisure battery anyway for things such as lights and water pump and toilet flush
Don't forget that without a battery it won't just be the heating that won't work.
Assuming it is a fairly recent model your taps, toilet and lighting won't work either.
As Dave says, best to get a battery.

Sadly the technological improvements made to modern caravans mean they are just not self sufficient any more. You can get a solar panel to top up the battery but it's output will be much reduced in winter when you need the heating.
