I have a so called quiet generator and its clearly audible over 100 metres away. I only ever use it for work and certainly not on a site with other units nearby. These days I can think of very little that would require the use of a generator on a campsite except maybe to top up a battery on a disability chariot.

Hi there
Sorry I should have said it’s for using at horse events if we have to camp overnight or a long weekend and normally you are in a field with fellow equestrians.
Ah....have done that a few times in the past!
Anyway.....have a look at marine/small boat generators as they as designed for use in relatively small environs, such as a boat of course!
Of course much will vary on the output required and the fuel chosen to drive it, but most now will be diesel.............
The Maxoak Bluetti AC200 looks perfect for campers, and they do a Europe model, you would only need to add a Solar Panel to extend run time whilst of grid.
From a full charge I recon the AC200 would keep my Waeco portable compressor fridge going for at least a fortnight, and that’s without the addition of a Solar Panel.
Far better solution than a traditional fossil generator I would argue.
I've bought several cheaper generators recently and they were all trash. Two were made by S.I.P. i bought them from Toolstation. The other was a new Nassboards generator, which i bought from Amazon. I'm now considering buying a slightly more expensive, (but not exorbitant) Cobra garden generator These come with a two-year warranty - which apparently includes parts and labour.
Sirius2006, I think that the only portable fossil generator worth buying would be a Honda, the EU22i is around 1000 but I guess you get what you pay for, as your previous experience has shown.
answering a very old post here. When looking for a generator for my motorhome I wanted light - 21kg, quiet, powerful min - 2kw. The answer is the honda eu22i. you cant use any generator on a campsite as they are all too noisy. But great for wild camping. even the Honda at 21kg is blxxxy heavy so you dont want heavier than this as just not portable unless you are a weight lifter. the honda is the most expensive but also the best. it does everything well. I've had honda generators for 34 years and not one breakdown. Still use my original one but a bit heavy for camping etc
When it comes to finding a quiet generator for camping that is reasonably priced, one option to consider is the Honda EU2200i. It is known for its quiet operation, making it suitable for camping environments where noise levels need to be minimized. While it may be slightly more expensive compared to some other options, its performance, reliability, and noise reduction capabilities make it a popular choice among campers. Additionally, researching and comparing various brands and models can help you find a generator that meets your specific needs and budget.

The original post is 3 years old. In any case, generators are fine in certain circumstances but not generally on campsites. Many specifically ban them anyway, as even the quietest of them makes quite a bit of noise.
