its called "a figure of 8" you use it when putting your awning skirt on to span across the wheel arch, you then feed a small bit of skirt which attaches and covers the hole up

Nothing to do with the inner tent, we use 4 of these on our Isabella major, the awning side next to the van has beading that is slid through the thin channel, the large side clips onto the upright poles in each corner by the van wall. The pole fits between the roof and the floor close to the van preventing draughts.

It looks like the piece that holds the side of our Isabella porch awning to the pole. One side of it slides onto the beading down the side of the awning and the other clips over the rear pole, like this. Edit - For some reason the photo is on its side, rotate 90 degrees clockwise!
