Hi everyone,
Looking to put solar panels to supply some electricity for few bits (fridge, TV, charging ports , lighting).
Looking around not sure if needed an investor of 110v or 220v... I have seen this, would it make my requirements?
I'd go for solid panels, most flexible have a relatively short lifespan before they go opaque with resulting power loss, also buy a good quality controller from a reputable company.
You won't be able to power an absorption fridge with a solar panel arrangement, it takes far too much current.
I use a 60W folding panel charging a 100ah leisure battery, on the ground, aligned a couple of times a day to maximise the position of the sun. I can go a week with my led internal lights, charging a couple of phones and tablets and a couple of hours TV via a 300W 230V invertor.
There is still enough left in the battery at the end of the week to use the motor mover to hitch up.
Run fridge, cooking, hot water/heating off gas, TV on 12v. I have a 3socket USB adaptor which plugs into the caravan 12v socket to charge phones, bike lights, gps, etc, etc. Also a small 150w inverter to charge my 230v shaver and older phone. 110amp battery charged up by a 150w folding panel,; does me, so far 15 nights at a time. Using a Safefill re-fillable gas cylinder costs me around £8.50 for 8.6kg/15ltrs at my local Morrisons garage.
