having moved to Spain I need the technical details for my towbar so that I can import my car
does anyone know where I can get this as Towsure tell me that the manufacturer they used in 2013 when my towbar was fitted no longer exist
Sorry cant help specifically but it should have a plate on the back of the bar with the type approval details on it, this is all you need. You may need to get underneath with a torch and look at the bar, its usually somewhere near the hitch point but could be stuck anywhere.
I am guessing this was an A1 Towbar and unfortunately they are no longer trading. As Phishing says on the neck of the bar (or crossmember) you will find an approval sticker with all the relevant approval information and type approval details required. You should not need any further certification as this will conform with the requirements set by the VCA.
Kind regards,
David.

the engineer tells me that I also need technical data which the manufacturer should be able to
supply but as they are no longer in business its going to cost me a lot of money for a Technical report
which needs to be presented at the ITV station so that it can be imported legally
just wondered if anyone out there had done this before and could help with the Technical data
The tecnical data is on the sticker which is why keeping the sticker on your towbar is important.
This states the EC approval, the manufacturer, part number, approval number, class, D value, and S value.
This proves that the towbar is EU compliant and approved.
Even though the manufacturer is no longer trading the approval is good if you have this detail.
Without it you can not prove that your towbar is fit for purpose so they wont issue docs.
