Good day

I would like to convert a single gas cooker fulled by CP250
cartridge to be used with Cadac camping gas cylinder.
My internet search does not bring clear answer.

Regards

Hi and welcome to the forum. It may well be that there is no way to convert it, perhaps a difference in gas pressure?

This link here will take you to one of the most comprehensive gas parts websites. If it's not listed then I'd guess there isn't one.

Dave.

Your OP is a little vague, the term 'cylinder' tends to imply something like a refillable Calor Gas propane/butane cylinder rather than a different style of disposable cartridge. If that's the case then you are trying to mix low pressure (Calor cylinder and regulator) with a high pressure system (CP259 cartridge), which brings it's own complications by way of burner jets. More info might clear that up.

Gas supply converters are a topic that crop up more frequently than one might expect, try searching previous posts, there certainly have been some in past year or so.

IMHO, for a basic stove, the costs, inconvenience (adaptors likely affect how it will pack away) and risks (the more joints/couplings the greater the risk of gas leaks! - and most of these 'adaptors' seem to be of dubious/anonymous Chinese origin with no assurance of quality or reliability) are just not worth it. A stove designed to use the gas supply you want to use is by far the best option.

Converting an expensive say Cadac BBQ with a recognised adaptor is an entirely different matter, but a typical basic CP250 powered stove, questionable unless you have a very good reason.

Good day Dave, thank you for the welcome and link. I will contact them and if there is no way to convert than I will forget about it.
Thanx again

Hi there. I realized that my description may be vague after I posted the msg. In South Africa we only deal with one type of gas, and there is no issue of possible mixing of equipment.
Fully agree with you about the danger of dubious fittings and connections, not with gas at least.
Thank you for your post. I include a picture of a cylinder I have.
Brought 2 x 7kg with me.

On a similar theme ..can you use disposable gas cans to supply a campinggaz two ring/toaster
classic 'briefcase' style 'cooker' ?

Going to Scilly this year and have strict weight restrictions - was hoping to leave the calor propane 5kg 'keg/bottle' we normally use and just take a couple of disposables cans or just buy one at the campsite.

The cooker has 'standard' push/click on regulator - could I just swap this out for another type of regulator -screw on etc which would make it compatible for a 'disposable can?

as it has a hose you can change the regulator to use differnt refilable bottles or get one of these ? https://www.camperite.co.uk/screw-thread-cartridge-regulator/ will let you run it off disposable screw thread cartridges, you can then get more adpters to use other disposable cartidges; piercable (eastern med lots of makers of these), aresol, and CV gaz click and twist disposable cartridges with that reg.
or if your going to a camp site ask them if you can rent a cylinder off them and buy a reg out there ?

Mike
