Hi all, just a question that someone may be able to resolve. About to purchase an awning for my Transit Custom. The sliding door almost reaches the rear of the van. This is about the same place where the channel rail ends. Looking at it the top corner of the sliding door when opened will catch the material at the corner of the awning. Is it me worrying, or is there a simple solution. Thanks in advance....Steve T.

Could you not fabricate some sort of door stop that prevents the door from going back quite so far? An inch short may well be enough. Without actually seeing it it's difficult to say, but I'm sure there is an easy solution.

I had the same problem. Someone helped me put the awning up, said it would be fine, slid the door open and ripped about a foot of the awning. You need to keep a roll of tenacious tape in the van.

Hi Colin, The sliding door sits in a small recess at the end of the track , which holds the door open. if you leave it say 2/3rds from the end it moves to close, under its own weight. first thing, I'm looking at as Kevin suggests is extending the C channel on my van. hope this will work...Steve T.

HI. I had a similar problem on my Transit Custom, (Wellhouse). The door rises as it is opened. I removed the black latch rail which was mounted on the side and repositioned it about 45 mm towards the front pillar. This stopped the door from going all the way back and interfering with the awning. the rail was rivoted on to the side of the bodywork. I still had plenty of room to access the van, even a broad person like me. Sorry, I don't have the van now as I could have attached a photograph. All the best.
