Halfords have just started selling a 30L compressor cool box at £250, initial customer reviews are good.
Competition for Mobicool?

Halfords fridge is here for £250.
Even cheaper same size compressor fridge here dunno how much postage is.
Even cheaper but can you buy just 1? From Alibaba a selection.here.
Looking at the wholesale prices direct from China does give you an idea of the huge markup from the likes of Dometic though.
Probably better to pay the extra & buy from Halfords though. You can take it back if it goes wrong.

That's a good effort from Halfords even at £250 and there are bound to be offers available as and when, and to be fair 30lt is a decent size without being to big or to small.
Billy's links do expose the pricing for these type of units, for the individual buyer though by the time you have added on shipping, import duty, vat etc, along with the risk factor your probably still better off buying the Halfords unit.
Will pop into my local Halfords and see if it has come into store.
As mentioned good competition for the likes of Mobicool and Waeco, lets hope that they are paying attention.

Vevor is not a UK company. The contact number is CA and the stuff appears to ship from NJ.
Shocking Trustpilot reviews, looks best to avoid.

Good to see some UK outlets marketing these devices at more realistic prices, hopefully give Mobicool/Dometic/Waeco something to think about, as they source some models cheaply from China and could easily retail at these prices. Nice to see a 2 year warantee on what is a fairly expensive purchase, something else for Mobicool to heed!
I think one of our members terrible experiences with purchasing a Mobicool from abroad should be a warning to us all when chasing a good price. When the likes of global Amazon stitch you up, I dread to think what most of these other obscure outlets could do to you! A lot to be said for purchasing from a UK retailer.

Surely for capacity and cost this is still a better option.

But that model is 240v mains only! You might as well buy a domestic table top fridge of similar capacity for only £80 and save a lot more money!
Note the fridge in link is on offer as clearance, so limited supply presumably.

More likely to be the reverse, the thermoelectric/peltier type coolboxes are power hungry beasts, the compressor fridges are far more frugal, mine draws 4A at 12v and is intermittent as thermostatically controlled, whilst my peltier coolbox is more like 6A continuous! It's the reason you can run a compressor fridge off a leisure battery alone for days, whilst a coolbox will kill a battery in a few hours.

Yep Monty got my Mobicool C40 back in 2013 for £139 inc delivery from Obelink it’s pretty much the same as the Tristar in Blueexpo97 link.
To be fair it’s a great little fridge/freezer, but gets more home use than camping theses days.
The problem with such units is that they use a regular 230v compressor like in a domestic fridge, which makes them bulky for there capacity.
The portable 12/24v fridges have a more compact compressor unit, so a 40lt version is much smaller than it’s 40lt mains only equivalent, the Mobicool MC40 is a perfect example of that.
If the Halfords unit is 12/24v only then I guess it must come with a mains adapter.
I have the Waeco mains adapter for my Waeco CF25 it outputs 24v but I also have a 8amp 12v linear mains power supply and it works fine on that.
The cheap cool box 12v mains supply units like the CampinGaz ones, don’t work with compressor fridges, as they draw to much current on start up, that’s why they tend to be 24v.
