The locking pull down webbing buckle is ubiquitous to a vast array of luggage and flexible items and it's construction and use is universal and intuitive.
My new Vango Faros has these on the wall corners and at the ring and pin locations.
None of the buckles are usable and appear to have been manufactued/assembled incorrectly.
There is a webbing loop through which you pass the hold down peg, but no loose end for pulling down.
Has anyone else had this issue?
What often happens it that with the strap fully 'extended' (biggest loop), the tail end stop (usually the webbing doubled back 8-10mm on itself and stitched) gets pulled hard up against the buckle and is both difficult to spot, and difficult to pull out. The trick is to ensure there is enough of the webbing tail exposed to enable easy pulling BEFORE putting awning (or whatever item) in situe. Sometimes it's easier to push the webbing back though the buckle a little to give you an end you can get a grip on (yes, I know, it's a bit like pushing a piece of string!).
Be surprised if wrongly manufactured, but not entirely unknown!
A word of warning to anyone looking at buying this Vango product.
Inspect this element straight away, and reject if faulty, or do like I did and rely on their name!!!!!
Unable to upload my photo. Using an android tablet that simply will not accept an upload from my photo list.
However, there is no loose end jammed in the buckle as alluded to in Monty 15s message.
For an application like this, it is normal to have a substantial hemmed loop or indeed a plastic finger pull.
Even the cheapest items have these.
There is no doubt this item is faulty.
Really!! I haven't "Slagged off" anything, I've simply reported a fault and the fact I cannot upload a photo does not imply that my report is invalid.
I don't make up issues and I'd thank you to keep your snied comments to yourself.
Having got the awwning out of the bag and spread it on my lawn, I showed two neighbours, both experienced campers and one an outdoor pursuits instructor and both agree beyond doubt there is a fault.
Things are never easy with warranty issues. There is always a wrangle and then the intermiable time it takes to resolve things and the inevitable reluctance suppliers have in collecting items at their expense.
I had it before with a Vango Equinbox tent that had a faulty groundsheet, and I'm having it now with an E bike that has wheel issues.
Cynical I may be, but it's not beyond suppliers to try to re cycle returned items in the hope that they can palm stuff off.
Well! The suppliers were right all along and I must apologise here as I have done to A&E leisure.
I took the hold down loop the wroing side of the buckle and consequently, it would not lock.
However taking the other side, it works. You pull down and lock the folded and stitched loop.
Aplogys to anyone offended.
Life is never simple!
Having used the Awning once for a three night stay on a Lakeland site, I am otherwise impressed. It's very good value for money and well thought out.
My van is an adapted VW Caddy life and the Faros Low is spot on for this vehicle. The Limpet hold down for the kador strip is also pretty secure and generous.
