The larger of my two porch awnings (Kampa Air 330) partly covers a window, I don't see it as a great problem.
I ensure both window and awning are dirt/grit free so there is no scratching of window. The 'gap' created above and below window is not big enough to be a real problem (Kampa Limpits draw awning edge/seal close to van wall). There are plenty of other windows in my van that can be opened if ventilation needed.
Been using it like that for nearly 4 years now, and not found it to be any kind of an issue. Can't really see why some folks make such a thing about awnings over windows, it's not ideal, but it's not a great problem in my experience.
