We wanted a tv with a satelitte receiver as our Elddis has the useless Avtex stick aerial and we find it often difficult to get a good reliable signal on our Cello.

We ordered an Avtex which despite what the blurb stated it did proved not to be able to record onto a usb stick. We returned it.

We tried to find an Avtex from the PRO range which proved everywhere was out of stock and I understand that Avtex are now only offering tvs with the SMART option which is not generally feasible as wifi is not always reliable on CLs or indeed on club sites.

We have bought a Vision PLUS with sat receiver which will record.

My point is that with a price tag of £449 and £389 and a new Cello at £199 respectively I was amazed that all 3 tvs use the same software and indeed a program I recorded last week in Cumbria on our old Cello will actually play on the new Vision Plus and the remote on the old Cello also works the Vision Plus.

All tvs picked up the same programs tho not as many as our Samsung home tv even when connected to the same aerial.

It seems the 3 tv are all one of the same with a price range which I cannot see is justified.

It is just hype?

Avtex is a well known branded name in the camping industry so they will hike the price up which is no different to a car dealer charging about 20% extra for a towbar to be fitted for the privelege of having the company logo stuck on it. We all know it's rip off Britain and this is a prime example.

TV recorded formats are basically the same in the same way that recording on an audio tape will play on multiple tape players, or MP3's work on all music players, and the gubbins inside is often basically the same.

There are very few actual tv screen manufacturers - Sony use screens made by LG, for example.

Software for many smaller manufacturers is basically a bought package from a programmer and when you look through the colours etc the functionality and coding will be the same. It's interesting that quite often a piece of software or functionality will be removed deliberately to drive purchase to more expensive models in a range.

To me, it's not ripoff Britain. If we choose to run the country as an open market then it's down to the buyer to buy what they want at the best price, and up to the manufacturer/supplier to pitch at the right price point to stay in business. Not to mention Cello sell millions of TVs and Avtex sell hundreds - the overheads and distribution network will be completely different.

Does anyone know if the Skygo app can be downloaded on the Cello TV??

Sick of watching SKY Spoets on a tablet when away in caravan.

Thanks

Avtex are good, we have 2 as Bailey used to supply them with some caravans.
One for van the other is at home, they are older models without satellite receiver function.
Yes they aren't cheap. Other makes advertised in the magazines.

Norris, if you get a firestick (or any device with this function) you can use screen mirroring to pair your phones screen to your telly.    Most smart phones in the last 5 years have this function.

We have been more than happy with our Avtex TV. We wanted one with a built in satellite receiver. Hadn't even heard of Cello by then. People buy what they can afford and unless you run different TV's side by side you will never know the difference. The trouble is now that so few retailers sell smaller TV's you are left with buying blind. Even JL have given up on Avtex which is a shame.

We bought a Cello TV for the caravan that also operates by 12 volt power which was half the price of an Avtex and both do exactly the same job. I think that just about explains why it's 'Rip Off Britain' which most UK residents are quite familiar with anyway and has been for many years.

we have a Cello, reception issues will mainly be down to where you are, if you do a digital tv search for the post code you are visiting it will give you different results from home. our Cello is a few years old and I found the socket for the aerial became loose causing poor signal, I tightened it will some pliers and leave the co-ax cable in.

We bought a 21" Avtex in 2015 and in the space of 2 years it was replaced 3 times due to faults. Last year we looked at getting the 28" Avtex without Smart at the highly inflated price of over £400. We had nothing except trouble and returned it a month later for a full refund. Avtex support staff are excellent.

We then went a bought a 240v LG 28" Smart TV for £180 as felt that we did not really need the 12v or the built DVD player. The LG was purchased from Richer Sounds and came with a 6 year warranty. We still have the 21" Avtex as a back up just in case.

Avtex are made in China!

We've got the same elddis stick aerial with amplifier, works but never been very good.

We now use the August DTA240 it is much better. They're amazing to say it's just a little 6" magmount stick plugged straight into the tv 🤩👌

I think they are probably assembled in the UK?
