I have a vango airbeam tent and would like to increase speed and decrease the effort it takes to pump up / deflate the tent. I have a box standard airbed style pump and was wondering if it might be possible to get an adapter which will allow me to use this to some extent(I realise I will have to finish it off with the hand pump to get it up to the required 7 psi) I am just hoping to make it quicker/easier without spending £100 on the proper Vango electric pump - I am new to the airbeam tents so any comment info would be great.
Daughter has a large paddling pool which is inflated quickly using a basic £10 pump from Go Outdoors. It has a variety of nozzles, see if there are adapters from Vango valves.
The Kampa Gale comes with several adapters but I have no idea what you need for a Vango valve, go and have a look at one to see if it would be suitable. You could try asking around on a campsite to see what other people are using.
The problem will be finding a pump that has the twist and lock connector at the end which is what the Airspeed adapter uses (and what you will find on most dual action hand pumps from Vango etc.)
What I did was to take the hose from an old manual pump which had the twist and lock connections, removed the connection to the pump itself (it was just lightly glued in), and then fitted one of the electric pumps connectors in the end instead and sealed it with tape (glue would have been a good idea but I didn't have any). It now looks something like this:
Obviously if you don't have a spare pump/hose this is risky as you'd lose the ability to manual inflate the tent if you've chopped your only hose. However you can probably pick up a manual pump off Amazon or eBay for a tenner or so which you could chop.
Edit: The text on my picture came out a bit small but basically the middle arrow is pointing to the bit I took off, and the bottom arrow shows the new connector taped on.
