Hi,

I have a suitcase type cooker that I use when camping. I have always used Marksman brand cannisters in the past and found them reliable, safe, and full! This year I seem to have trouble buying them, oh yes they are advertised (and I usually buy from Amazon) but random brands seem to be being sent out and not Marksman as advertised.

Even had one seller tell me they are exactly the same, made in the same factory etc, yeah right.

I am concerned about using the generic brands I have been sent because I know nothing about them, and I cant seem to find anything about who makes them either.

So have you had any bad experiences (or know of) so therefore brands to avoid or am I just being a worry wart?
I have been sent Cross Country. They look fine and feel full but no idea on their reputation

TIA

Mandy

Check how much gas they contain. The contents vary between about 160g and 270g depending upon the make, so a cheap cannister can work out very expensive for the amount of gas it contains.

Used all brands with no trouble. The only difference although the cannisters all the same size some do contain less gas as above post.

Buy a new and better stove and retire your suitcase stove.

Chuckle Bramston, yeah, probably but as I have only been camping a few times cannot justify doing everything at once. The cooker works just fine ;) I also have a gaz party grill so we do OK, tent got upgraded at the end of last season so everything else will have to wait till I can build my savings up a bit again just want to be as safe as possible in the mean time
