Seem to recall a rather vigorous debate on the merits or otherwise of various portable toilets after the outbreak of Covid when site toilets were closed. Think there was quite a lot of selfish thought centred solely on ones own convenience, and little thought for disposal impact on fellow campers!

Pretty sure the general consensus was folks not being too impressed at human waste going into general waste bins, and even more displeasure at dog poo bins being filled with bulky bin bags of cat litter/saw dust and human waste! - where is the dog poo supposed to go when the small bins are full of what is not supposed to be in them!

.... and of course tales of numpties emptying cat litter etc. down Elsan points and blocking them!

Personally, I use a porta-potti when tent camping (and I also use the fitted chemical toilet in my caravan when not in a tent), it seemed a no brainer to me, convenient and comfortable to use, AND safe (the chemicals deal with any bio-hazard), no smells or flies even when used for 1's and 2's, and only needs emptying maybe once or twice a week if full into the correct Elsan disposal point. I just saw it as maximum convenience and minimum effort/impact. Everyone to their own and all that ......

Edit. Forgot to answer OP question! I use Elsan SuperKem in both my porta-potti and caravan toilet. It's concentrated and goes in both tanks, so only one small 1 litre bottle to carry, it's 'green' (even though actually blue in colour!) and compatible with all disposal systems, it's very effective, and I find the fragrance far more subtle and acceptable than many other products on the market. I absolutely hate the Thetford products, fail on all counts compared to SuperKem!

I've never been too enamoured with dog owners who dispose of their pets waste by hanging the bags from a tree, a gatepost, a hedgerow, or even not bother to pick up at all.
Or those that allow their dogs to wander free across a campsite when the rules clearly state they should be on a lead... and usually a short lead at that... at all times.
I've also witnessed folk rinsing out their toilet cassettes at drinking water standpipes.
Then there's the guy who decided to clean his teeth (inc spit, of course) in the outdoor specific dish-washing sink, rather than walk a further 4m through the open doorway into where all the wash basins are.
Oh... and the kids guzzling directly (mouth to tap) from a drinking water standpipe tap.
... and the woman rinsing all her food-riddled pans/plates at the drinking water tap, bits of rice/pasta/mash potatoes etc all lying around on the concrete around the drain grill below. A nightly ritual that was!

I guess none of us have to look too far, before finding someone that annoys us, disgusts us, or literally makes us want to throw up in the nearest pot washing sink!
