Topic: Mains drainage on serviced pitches

I have been in the habit of using the bog standard grey piping however at times I can have difficulty in ensuring that the water runs freely due to ground levels etc. I have supported the piping with blocks etc. but it tends to droop in between the supports due to the weight of the water. I have been looking at various alternatives particularly the expandable piping and supporting pegs. Any advice on this subject will e appreciated.

I have used the Colapz waste pipe support pegs to good effect. They do a range of stuff, try looking on this link Not cheap, especially if you need to support a very long run.

Its not often you have a 'long run' on serviced pitches. Usually a yard or two at best. I've seen folk using 2m lengths of inch and a quarter waste + a few fittings to good effect. I would think a load of home-made 'pegs' of the type used by the colapz company, made from wire coat hangers would do the job for regular concertina waste pipe.

We use two lengths of standard rigid white waste pipe in two different diameters. The narrower pipe slides up inside the wider pipe and then extends out from it to whatever length is needed to reach the drain (if that makes sense). It works a treat for us. We attach it to the caravan by connecting it to a standard waste outlet with a small length (about 6 inches) of corrugated flexible pipe which means that the connector can bend slightly depending on where the drain is.

I find the Colapz pipes very handy as they pack up small and neatly in the bag they came in.

Although my waste tank and pipe are closer to the ground being a PVC, I do not have an issue with drainage except the need to use a funnel attachment sold by Collapz to connect to the pipe. It also helps for the waste pipe opening to sit more securely in the Wastemaster opening when I push the thinner end under my van.

The supports from Collapz are no good to me as they would elevate my waste pipe with it being so close to the ground.

The problem is that many serviced pitches with drainage the drain is raised above ground level and water cannot flow uphill.

Thats why i mentioned the rigid pipe. Its rare you get the mean level of the drain higher than the outlet on the van.

Hi Ian, I used Colapz pegs with the standard grey pipe. The trick seems to be to get the water pipe run as short, and as smooth a drop as possible between the outlet and the drain so height difference is essential. I only use mine on a serviced pitch, I have a rigid systen for use with my aquaroll for this reason.

We use push fit 32mm, (1 1/4") waste pipe and a variety of fittings.

With two lengths of pipe, an equal swept tee, a couple of female to female elbows, two or three male to female elbows, and two couplings can be cobbled together for most situations.

The pipe may neeed cutting to fit in the front locker.
