Aye - the French stuff is pretty good too but smells like fermenting swamp water. I normally bring back 2 x 5 litres when we go but with surgeries & covid it's been 3 years. As well as backpacking I use a lot in the workshop so go through a lot.

I too have used the purple stuff in stoves - for decades, & it's perfectly adequate. But now there is a better alternative regarding purity, output & economy I use that.

So you can have an adequate fuel that's hard to confuse with water, gin or vodka or a better fuel that requires a minimum of common sense not to poison yourself or anyone else.
