I've totally revised my opinion on this; after doing lots of research and viewing countless chairs, I think the Crespo reclining chairs are the best of the lot, and their strongest and widest appears to be the AP-238 XL, which is lightweight, compact, generously sized and can hold up to 200kgs.

There are various fabrics available (which affects the price) and the frame is available in aluminium (AL-238 XL) or anodised black (AP-238 XL).

They're expensive, but are the most comfortable and well-made chairs we've found.

Here's a link.

they look great but maybe a little big to take camping. ideal for a caravanner tho.

i found one in the end that folds down into a bag and the site selling it claims it has been manufacturer tested to 180kg. it also has a tag on it stating it has a 3 year warranty so time will tell i guess.

this is what i went for
chair

After a 150kg rated £50+ camping chair from Amazon buckled under me (and yes, I'm a larger lady but nowhere near that limit!), (thankfully, I wasn't seriously injured,) I decided to invest in something, hopefully, sturdier. I opted for the Nash Big Daddy chair. I find it extremely comfortable and, so far, very sturdy and reliable. A great feature is the adjustable height legs, as it's intended for use on sloping river banks, so you can lounge on it or sit to a high table with it. I debated whether to purchase the Daddy Long Legs model, as I have a very long body and like higher back rests, but I find the Big Daddy more than adequate.
One drawback is the weight and bulk of the chair. Fortunately, we take a van with us, so that's not an issue for us, but I appreciate it would put a lot of people off. Overall, I'm highly satisfied with it. I have a spinal injury so feeling comfortable and safe is very important to me.
