Hi all, here's my set up: 12v cool box plugged into caravan 12 socket, the caravan is on EHU and the control panel shows 14.4v. This would be for 9 weeks. My question being:- Would this harm the battery?

You don't say what current drain the cool box is and whether it is basically a fan type. However, assuming it t isn't drawing an enormous amouint of current the on-board battery charger should cope with it and keep the battery charged whilst on EHU.

Most problems occur when the charger overheats and fails, this in turn often drags the battery down with it so just keep an eye on the voltage output and allow for free airflow around the charger box. Also charger sockets are notorious for poor connections and arcing over time, melting the plug/socket, just keep an eye on them too.

That's sounds good Dave thank you. It is a fan type. My alternative was to plug a battery charger into the mains socket and use that to power the cool box. I know that transformers are available but that's what a battery charger is at the end of the day😖

Why not buy a separate 12 volt power supply to plug into the mains? Make sure it is rated for the current the coolbox will draw. That way, if anything goes wrong, it does not affect your battery and charger.

Yes you're right Ancient Uncle but I've left it a bit late as we're away from Friday. I've had it as I first described previously but my batteries don't seem to last very long +/- 2 years😢 so that's why I asked the question. I think I'll run it off the battery charger as it's well within its capabilities.
Thanks for the reply though and I'll treat myself to what you suggested when we come home.
