There is such a thing? I never knew I've now deleted my browsing history before the Drug Squad call

If you are camping with an electric hook-up (EHU) you could use a fan heater with a cold setting and have the benefit of taking the chill off at night! Don't go higher than 2Kw (2000 watts) on the heating with 10 amp supply.

We have a tent light that also has a fan function. However, our tent was boiling yesterday afternoon and the fan just blew hot air around

There is. I checked on Amazon. My search was for tent fans, and as well as camping fans I also got listings of fans for grow tents used for....

Reminds me of a basic computer course I attended at night school. A woman, first time on the internet was searching for the Manchester Evening News site, known then as M.E.N. Online. She missed out the full stops and got some interesting results.

A fan heater with a fan-only function no higher wattage than 2kW would be your best option providing you are on EHU.

A bigger fan would be better, however, it would be bulky to carry. If you were going to get a bigger fan, you might as well consider getting a mobile air conditioning unit!

Be warned that fans and air con units are noisy to use.

Good luck!

Sit outside in the shade? Sleep under a damp sheet? Get a hand held wizzy fan thing to hold? Can’t see the point of moving warm air around inside a tent & I find the fan noise really irritating.

Yes, I did the internet search & was quite surprised!! It really opened my eyes 😂.
Thanks, I’ll definitely be going for a shaded pitch if at all possible as it can make the difference between an extra hours sleep on a morning.

Common misconception, but fans do not actually cool the air in general, in fact technically they add a little bit of heat TOO the air by working it, but they do cool people if playing directly on them by wind chill effect. So as previously mentioned they can do nothing more than move warm air around, unless all the occupants of the tent are directly in the noticeable airflow and benefit from wind chill effect.

So perhaps more effective than one BIG fan just circulating warm air, small 'personal' fans blowing directly over each person may be more useful.

I've got a mains powered 6 inch fan in the caravan which TBH doesn't shift a lot of air and is slightly noisy in the quiet of the night, but last year I acquired from Lidl (one of their limited middle ailse offers) a USB rechargeable personal fan only about 3 inch diameter and it's brilliant, 3 speeds (the low speed is adequate), it'll run all night on a charge (low speed), it shifts impressive volumes of air and is very quiet. Sadly I can't find anywhere in UK stocking the identical fan (this is as close as I've found: https://www.amazon.co.uk/COF-Portable-wireless-Rechargeable-Foldable-Black/dp/B01LLESNWU), but may be worth keeping an eye on Lidl/Aldi in next few weeks (they do tend to repeat the same items each year), or do a bit more Googling than I did for something similar.

As to the tent, Outwell tend to be quite good designs, so ensure all air vents are properly opened to get as much change of air as possible.

As Monty15 fans cool people not air. anyway have you looked for a tent liner. We have a caravan with awning and fitted the awning with a roof liner , what a difference.

You could do worse than buy a USB rechargeable hand held fan like the one by VersionTECH on Amazon. We have one and the battery lasts for hours. You can fold it to kind of stand up on its own. This also gives flexibility away from a mains hook up or if you want to sit in the shade under a tree say and dragging an extension cable is not practical. They also run on replaceable 18650 lithium ion batteries (included) so you can even expand it's run time by having a charged one to hand or simply put a usb battery bank on it to extend it's run time further

If you're hooked on the idea of a 240vac one then there are tons online to choose from. We have a cylindrical one at home that also pumps out positive ions (ioniser) which helps in the house when it's humid and hot. Not sure how that would work in a tent but i'd say it could have a positive benefit
