As the title suggests, we are now pensioners and suffering. SWMBO with hands, myself with back and hip.
We did camp with a hard top pop up camper (hence my name) but as with ourselves, old age got the better of it.
For tenting we had an Easycamp Napoli that would take our very comfortable Double Height Kingsize inflatable bed. Getting onto and off again was no problem.
That tent too has been retired replaced with a Belltent Boutique 4m bell, however with the centre pole the kingsize will not fit due to wall height.
As an alternative I have brought two standard size double airbeds into play, the pole separating us. (I got doubles as I like my space, singles are far too small to allow the positions needed for pain relief) The only problem is getting down and getting up again.
Are there any cheap ways of raising these mattresses or double campbeds that won't collapse first time out.

I have severe arthritis in both knees and hips and find it impossible to get up from the ground without any assistance,I bought a garden kneeler and it solves my problem.

Now that sounds like a good idea, thank you.
I had thought about a rope through the chandelier eyelet on the top of the centre pole and around her neck to hoist her up....but the temptation would be irresistible ;).

Nice to see that your infirmaties still haven't robbed you of your sense of humour.

Thats as maybe. But the OP appears to be nearing, or even at, a point where their choice of 'accommodation' is becoming unsuitable for their health needs. We all end up with limitations at some point. How about a trailer tent, so not so near the ground?

As I stated in the first part "We did camp with a hard top pop up camper (hence my name) An American Starcraft Starlite II but as with ourselves, old age got the better of it.(it rotted). If replacing with another, or indeed a trailer tent was within our finances, we would have looked into it, Sadly it is not and so we bought the best, easiest to pitch NEW tent with our available finances. We have found however the tent is easier to enter that a trailer, pop upcamper or caravan.
