Hello all,

I brought a 2004 Conway Cruiser second hand, and it came with an unlabelled butane bottle, I thought 4.5 kg. I wanted a second bottle, and Calor wasn't selling them online. So, I brought one from Flogas a couple of weeks ago, which I put it in the gas locker. I just double-checked the bottle and realised that it doesn't have a knob like the one that came with the camper, so I am completely unsure how to connect it up, and now I'm concerned about running out of gas! Is the Flogas bottle incompatible, and if so, what's the best way to get the correct bottle urgently? Thank you so much for your advice!

This is what the bottle that came with the camper looks like (without the attached regulator)
This is what Flogas sent me.

The unmarked one has the screw on connector on the side which is the same as Calor which has the screw type shut off valve on top, and the Flo-Gas has a clip on connector that attaches directly onto the top of the nozzle which incorporates a swivel shut off valve. Unfortunately, the two Butane cylinders don't have compatible fittings.

Google search for Butane gas connectors you should find what you need or a company to contact to discuss your needs. It may mean two different hoses but at least you will be able to use the gas.

You can get an adapter, fir either 27mm or 21mm patio gas cylinders - Gaslow do both.
EDIT. Looks like yours is the 20mm https://www.gaslowdirect.com/product/gaslow-20mm-clip-on-gas-cylinder-adapter-01-1672/

The Flogas bottle uses a 20mm clip regulator or adaptor. In the Gaslow link above you can see 20mm clip adaptor. This is what you need. The bottle you already have looks like a Calor 4.5 & is using 28mb regulator with with left hand thread butane nut. This regulator will screw into the 20mm clip adaptor on Flogas bottle. So you can then swap between bottles.

I would add though that the regulator looks old & might need replacing anyway so possibly better idea would be to get another Flogas bottle & 20mm clip regulator so you have a matching pair of bottles.

If you go the route of getting another Flogas bottle may I suggest one of these:-(click and paste)   https://www.bes.co.uk/butane-low-pressure-regulator-single-stage-20-mm-clip-on-x-hose-nozzle-8805/    Do NOT whatever you do connect the bottle to the system without a regulator

It can pay to pick up different regulators at boot sales for all these odd-ball bottles. I must have maybe 7 or 8 now, then im not restricted to what bottles may be available if im stuck.
