Hi

I'm having real difficulty getting a Calor gas refill and am thinking of swapping to Flogas as there doesn't seem to be a supply issue with them. But I'm wondering if there are any draw backs?

Do I need a different regulator? (Touring caravan)

All advice appreciated.

You will need a flogas regulator, other than that no problems. I've used them for years.

If your caravan has a bulkhead regulator (which most modern caravans do), all you'll need is a 27mm adaptor and maybe a new hose like this one LINK HERE.
This is what I used when I converted to FloGas.
The bottles are readily available from all B&M stores with garden centres attached.

Basically no problems with the gas itself, and supply seems to be very good, but the cylinder couplings may be different depending on what cylinder you opt for.

You don't say what Calor cylinder you currently have! So going to assume the typical 6Kg red propane.

A 6Kg 'standard red' Flogas propane is like for like with the Calor 6Kg, UK POL 5/8” LH male.

https://www.flogas.co.uk/product/6kg-propane-gas-cylinder#features

Other cylinders have a variety of couplings, and you may need the appropriate coupling with either an adaptor or swap the pig tail to a Butane hose.

Tell us PRECISELY which cylinder you would be going for and we can tell you the necessary couplings required.

As said with propane its like for like, if its butane you will need another regulator, or fitting for the bulkhead system.

In that case, should be a straightforward swap over from Calor to Flowgas cylinder (so long as you get a Flogas 'Standard Red' Propane) with no change of hose/regulator required.

It's worth scanning ebay, facebook market place, local ads etc. to find a 's/h' cylinder for a few pounds (often under £10) to exchange, rather than pay up the Flowgas £38.50 cylinder rental fee! Any cylinder in the 'Small cylinder category Propane' will do, you can swap refills between sizes freely. https://www.flogas.co.uk/frequently-asked-questions/will-i-be-charged-for-the-cylinder

Our local flogas company charge £6 for the rental agreement on the bottle or rather they did.
