Hi, we only have the built in aerial on the caravan which works fine except at 2 of our regular sites where we have trouble getting channel 3 and 4. Is there anything we can get to boost the signal - don’t want a dish , just watch freeview

Does the built in aerial not have a booster as part of it? Over boosting the signal can make matters worse. If its a directional aerial I would suggest downloading an App onto your phone which would give you directions to the nearest transmitter.

Some areas are only served by a 'Public Service Transmitter', frequently known as 'Freeview Lite (Light)', that only offers around 12 basic channels including BBC and ITV etc., but excludes things like Dave, Quest etc.

No amount of boosting is going to receive a channel that is not broadcast by the local transmitter aerial!

One of my favourite sites in the Lake District can only receive the Freeview Lite channels, and a very disappointing selection they are too!

My caravan's fitted directional VisionPlus Status TV aerial, with amplifier, is remarkably good at picking up TV signals wherever I've been. Sometimes you need to adjust the aerial to horizontal or vertical orientation to match the transmitter aerial signal polarisation, that can make a huge difference in signal quality. I have heard that the Omni-directional aerials (the round 'flying saucer' ones) can be quite poor at receiving week signals though.

If you have a omnidirectional one, it looks like a flying saucer with a spike on top, you won't get a good signal invest on a external aerial which you can fit to a jockey wheel or I prefer visionplus unibrackets
